Luleå Airport

Pure Generation AC vs. electricity unit

In 2016, three Pure Generation AC units were installed at Luleå Airport. The units take leverage on the waterborne system and use district heating as primary source. Prior to this, the airport used electricity for heating up the ventilation air for parked aircrafts.

40% cut in energy use

The estimated use of energy is 40% lower when using the Smart Climate unit compared to a traditional electricity unit.

66% cost reduction

Total cost reduction when using Pure Generation AC amounts to 66%.

*Estimated energy cost, electricity unit only.

95% reduction of greenhouse gases

As a result of the decrease in energy use and the lower emission levels from the district heating, the total amount of greenhouse gas emissions is reduced by 95 %. That is a reduction of 37,9 ton annually.

*Environmental Evaluation. Electricity: Northern residual mix, electric capacity released to be used in other applications in all of Scandinavia. District heating: Local. The estimate for electricity use is based on consumption data prior to system change.

”We have drastically cut our energy bill”
